The south of Italy
Tom, Marine and Katerina spent a week sampling material from 4 important Italian sequences. We were working with the Siena team of Annamaria Ronchitelli and Adriana Moroni on this occasion.
Starting out at the important site of Castelcivita (left), where we looked at the long 'Gambassini' sequence and the interesting tephra record, we then moved to the coastal site of Grotta della Cala (below) on the coast. After 2 days sampling there we went to Atterana and then drove to Puglia and finally the site of Oscuruscuito, an open air Mousterian site excavated by Boscato and Ronchitelli.
