I joined the PalaeoChron team in November 2014. I specialize in Thermoluminescence (TL) and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) methods and I am responsible, with Jean-Luc Schwenninger, for the Luminescence dating part of the PalaeoChron project. I have a broad interest in significant questions concerning the chronology of human evolution and the peopling of Eurasia during the Middle and Upper Palaeolithic.
My research is focused on the development of paleodosimetric methods, particularly TL and OSL to different archaeological materials (burnt flint, quartz and feldspar mineral grains extracted from sediment samples), and the improvement of dosimetry measurements. You can read about some of these approaches on the Luminescence page.
Education and Previous work
After two Masters Degrees in Geology and in Archaeometry, I did a PhD on Geochronology in the University of Bordeaux (France).
During my PhD I focused on the chronology of human cultures during the Upper Pleistocene in southwest France. I worked on major archaeological sites in the Charente and Dordogne regions including La Quina, Artenac, Les Pradelles, Roc de Marsal and La Ferrassie. I have also developed a dating protocol for K-feldspars based on their radioluminescence signal.
