Torquay trip

We visited Torquay this week for our regular monthly meeting as well as to see the excavations currently being undertaken at the site of Kent's Cavern. PalaeoChron collaborators Rob Dinnis and Chris Proctor are running the dig, which is looking at a new previously undiscovered entrance at the site.

The weather was against us on day 1 so we spent the afternoon in the cave looking at the different galleries and deposits in the site, as well as the excavations. We also met up with Nick Powe, the owner of Kent's Cavern.

The following day the sun was out, thankfully, and the harbour and town looked a picture. We walked to the Torquay Museum for our meeting and had an excellent 2.5 hours of discussion, presentation of results and planning ahead. Following this we had a look at the Palaeolithic gallery, including the famous KC4 maxilla and then had lunch on the foreshore with Rob and Chris.

We had a short time for a walk around the town before heading back to Oxford on the train.
