Slovakia
PalaeoChron (Rachel and Tom) was in Slovakia this week working on sampling material from several important sites including Dzerava Skala. We worked in Bratislava in the National Museum and also in the city of Nitra with our colleagues Bibiána Hromadová and Lubomíra Kaminská. With incessant rain throughout much of our trip we were fortunate to not be working outside! Slovakia has many Palaeolithic sites, but a great deal of them were excavated a long time ago and do not have a well-documented stratigraphic sequence. We therefore focussed on sampling bone industry and human remains where we could.
We are very grateful to our colleagues Bibi Hromadová and Laurent Klaric for looking after us so well while we were in Slovakia. It was great to work with you both.
